Welcome to the Refugee Health Moncton site!Bienvenue au site du programme Moncton Santé Réfugiés!
(Malheureusement pour le moment ce site est seulement en anglais -- J'espère avoir le temps de traduire le contenu bientôt! -- S.L.)
The Refugee Health Moncton Santé Réfugiés program is designed to help improve the health of Government-Assisted Refugees in Moncton. As you work through this website, you will be learning about what it is to be a refugee, how Canada assists refugees, MAGMA's role here in Moncton, as well as some tips on cross-cultural communication and working with interpreters. A description of the Refugee Health screening program and your role in it is also described on this site.
By completing this module and participating in the program, not only will you be helping Government-Assisted Refugees newly arrived in Moncton, but you will learn and put into practice some valuable cross-cultural communication skills that will be helpful to you no matter what populations you end up working with. Recognizing the impact of our culture, and that of our clients, on our interactions is essential in becoming effective, resourceful and caring health professionals.
Once you have worked through all the pages to the left, click on the last tab and it will bring you to a little quiz. This is to help solidify your understanding of refugee health issues and also helps me keep track of who has completed the module.
Please include an email address which you check regularly so you can be placed on the list to be contacted when there are new clients arriving in Moncton who will need health screening.
Looking forward to working with you!
